Network Addressing Requirements¶
Overview
The network addressing requirements below must be taken into consideration when planning a StarlingX installation.
Note
If the default subnets of cluster-pod and cluster-service are not changed, ensure that no IP overlaps with other provisioned subnets.
If container workloads on this system must initiate connections to endpoints outside the cluster, the cluster-host and cluster-pod subnets must additionally be:
globally routable: reachable from those external endpoints, with a working return path. The default subnet is not routable outside the cluster.
unique: not reused by any other StarlingX system whose traffic traverses the same transport network. Where the same prefix is present on more than one system, the transport network cannot carry a single unambiguous route to it, and replies to a node’s cluster host address have no unique destination.
The cluster-host and cluster-pod subnets cannot be changed after deployment, so both properties must be decided before bootstrap.

Note
The OAM and Admin network requires an extra gateway address.
The management network requires an extra gateway address when the admin network is not used.
